The Ramstein Directive (RD) (Special)
Set inside NATO’s Allied Air Command, The Ramstein Directive is a high-stakes, strategy-driven special committee where traditional diplomacy is replaced by secrecy, deception, and psychological warfare. Delegates do not represent countries, but instead take on roles within NATO’s air command hierarchy—commanders, intelligence officers, legal advisors, and more. Each is assigned a confidential agenda, hidden from all other participants, creating a complex environment where trust is scarce and alliances are temporary.
Through a dynamic system of public and secret directives, soldiers must navigate not only the evolving military and political crisis, but also the hidden motivations of those around them. Strategic silence, covert sabotage, misinformation, and manipulation are not only allowed—they are essential. At AAMUN’25, this committee becomes a living embodiment of The Hollow Mandate: authority exists, but action is fractured, trust is elusive, and power is wielded in whispers rather than declarations.
This committee will explore decisions surrounding air defense coordination, rules of engagement, and crisis de-escalation, all while delegates pursue their hidden agendas. Behind the scenes, secret directives and unspoken motives drive every decision. Should the alliance prioritize unity over justice? Should de-escalation come at the cost of sovereignty? And most of all—what happens when no one truly knows who’s working toward peace, and who’s guiding the alliance toward conflict?
The silence between NATO members, the refusal to confront tensions openly, and the strategic ambiguity of military posturing all converge in The Ramstein Directive, a committee where speaking less often means doing more—and where power is exercised not on paper, but in shadows.
