Security Council (SC)
The United Nations Security Council is the UN’s most powerful body, tasked with upholding international peace and security through binding resolutions and, when necessary, the authorization of force. Its fifteen members—five of whom wield veto power—have the legal authority to intervene in global crises. Yet in many of today’s most urgent conflicts, this power is diluted not by lack of jurisdiction, but by silence, division, and political self-interest. AAMUN’25 challenges delegates in the UNSC to confront this paralysis and reignite the Council’s ability to act.
